This Universal Linear Tape Open (LTO) Ultrium cleaning cartridge is designed for use with HP Ultrium drives shipped after January 002 and for older drives with a firmware upgrade. Cartridge supports 50 cleanings. Although HP media offers extreme reliability under a whole range of conditions, it is still advisable to follow a sensible procedure when handling and storing cartridges in order to maximize the life of your tapes. Many causes of recording or read errors are temporary and can be corrected by a cleaning cartridge. Regular drive cleaning is essential to long-term reliability and should be conducted on a scheduled cycle as well as when requested by the drive.
